I only had dim sum and it was amazing. I loved all the diffent dishes I tried. and the food is reasonably priced. No typical premium Carmel prices. The service was relatively fast, we were able to be seated right away. Although I know there was a few people waiting to get in after we ordered our food. It is a small restaurant with lot of seating, so it gets pretty loud. I will be back when I visit Carmel again.
Food and service. NO atmosphere!!!! Need plants or pictures on the wall needs charm and color
We love Tommy's! We first ate there on our honeymoon 24 years ago after a local recommended it. We had the blessing of living in Monterey thanks to the AF for 3 years from 2006-2009 and frequented Tommy's often. We have returned to the peninsula for vacations and anniversaries over the years and ALWAYS go to Tommy's! Our 5 kids love it too! The food and service is always good! It is tiny and tight - but that is part of the charm and totally worth it! Can't wait till our next visit!
Wonderful little hole in the wall in the heart of Carmel. Highly recommend the spicy eggplant! They also have a well-priced lunch complete with a pot of house hot tea. Pop in for the lunch specials for a great deal!
Exceptional food. Would recommend for someone who craves authentic cuisine . Portion sizes are good and flavors are outstanding
If you're craving fresh, delicious Chinese food at a wallet-friendly price while in Carmel-by-the-Sea, this spot is a must-visit. Tucked away down a little alley off the high-end shops, it's definitely a hidden gem. The staff is kind and accommodating, and the food is both fresh and flavorful. I had the cashew chicken for lunch, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, while my husband enjoyed the Mongolian beef, which was tender and savory. We also treated ourselves to some hot sake, which was the perfect touch. A cozy, no-frills spot that's definitely worth seeking out for a tasty, affordable meal!
Always friendly , always fast service / always delicious and consistent. The amount of food for the price..... can't beat it
We had driven 10.5 hours to get to Carmel and needless to say, we were HUNGRY! My mom was insistent on having a rice dish. We found Tommy's Wok on yelp and because it had good reviews, we decided to try it out. It was a little chaotic at first because they were super busy and it wasn't clear that we had to put our name on a paper list held by a clipboard. But once we figured that out, we stood to wait outside for what we thought would be a long time but surprisingly, we got seated pretty fast. Our first impression of the servers was that they weren't friendly and maybe even a little edgy. But they were simply being efficient. We never had to ask for water refills, ordering our meals was very easy and the food came out fast! Plus it was DELICIOUS! If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing meal, I wouldn't recommend this place necessarily. It's casual and loud. But it's also fun and fast. Now that I know what to expect, I would go back, for sure!
We ordered take out and everything was still pretty good. For Chinese food in Carmel, this place is pretty decent. It's a small shop tucked away between other restaurants on one street, and at the end of the Wells Fargo parking lot from the other street. The staff was really nice & friendly. Orange Chicken: *4/5*: Really saucy and delicious. Could've been a little crispier but that's because we did take out, I imagine if we ate it there, it'd be fried well. The sauce is more savory than sweet but still good and a good taste of orange zestiness. Honey Walnut Shrimp: *4/5*: The shrimp was really big and fried well. Classic dish and tastes as how you'd expect. Green Beans: *5/5*: Perfectly wilted yet crunchy and super saucy Sizzling Rice Soup: *5/5*: Love the assortment of veggies in the soup. Soup had a nice chickeny flavor but not overly seasoned. Sizzling rice gave it a nice crunch
